May 19, 2007 - UPDATE
Wes and Don are now in Talkeetna. They flew in this morning. They are marveling at how green everything is and how warm it is. It is around 60 and they are hot! They will be heading back to Anchorage today. Pablo and Jesus were also able to fly to Talkeetna this morning. They are doing well. The rest of the team will probably be coming off the mountain tomorrow. No one was able to make a summit attempt. The weather was just too bad. Wes was talking to a park ranger who said that usually no one summits until the end of May due to weather. Yesterday when they were going from 8,000 down to base camp they actually joined up with two other teams that were descending. They said their guide, Walt, fell into a crevasse and they had to help get him out. He is fine. Wes and Don will be coming home Monday or Tuesday. I'm sure Wes will update this blog when he gets back to include some more details of their adventure.
